The Senior Health Benefits Advisor will lead efforts to expand MetroPlusHealth’s commercial market share by increasing penetration of the MetroPlus commercial plans among large group employers and New York City agencies.
This role focuses on driving enrollment, generating leads, and building strategic relationships with city agencies, unions and large group employers within NYC to strengthen brand engagement through proactive outreach and education.

Scope of Role & Responsibilities

• Own and manage an assigned book of business across NYC agencies, unions, and large employer groups, ensuring retention, growth, and satisfaction goals are met.
• Maintain deep expertise in MetroPlus Health commercial products, OLR rules, and all applicable regulatory requirements, serving as a subject matter expert for internal and external partners.
• Develop and deliver high‑impact presentations tailored to city agencies, union groups, large employers, and internal stakeholders to drive engagement and enrollment.
• Lead the planning and execution of citywide marketing events, outreach campaigns, and tabling activities to generate qualified leads within targeted employee populations.
• Proactively manage relationships with agency leadership, benefit coordinators, and union representatives by serving as their primary liaison and strategic advisor.
• Ensure timely delivery of marketing materials and promotional items to agencies, unions, and employer partners, forecasting needs based on engagement cycles.
• Oversee compliance adherence, ensuring all outreach and marketing activities strictly follow OLR marketing rules and MetroPlus Health guidelines.
• Own Salesforce lead management activities, ensuring complete, accurate, and timely documentation of all outreach, leads, follow‑ups, and pipeline progress.
• Guide NYC government employees (DOE, NYPD, FDNY, HHC, HRA, etc.) through the correct Employee Self‑Service channels and Benefits call centers to facilitate enrollment.
• Conduct high‑quality educational and enrollment sessions at employee forums, orientations, union meetings, and workshops.
• Track market trends and regulatory updates, advising leadership on emerging opportunities and risks within assigned markets.
• Drive strategic business initiatives within assigned accounts, ensuring alignment with commercial growth targets and agency/union needs.
• Develop targeted outreach plans for each account, with measurable goals to maximize engagement, lead generation, and conversion.
• Coordinate open enrollment cycles and new hire orientations, ensuring seamless execution and high‑quality service delivery. 

• Master and demonstrate MetroPlus Health online tools, including website functionality, product features, provider directories, forms, and member resources, for both internal and external audiences.
• Identify growth opportunities within the book of business and lead cross-functional collaboration to execute expansion strategies.

 

Required Education, Training & Professional Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required
• 4 + years’ experience as a Sales Account Executive or in commercial health insurance.
• Reliable vehicle for work-related travel.
• Willingness to travel within NYC by car and/or public transportation.
• Advanced public speaking experience required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

 

Required Licensure and/or Certification

• Valid Driver’s License is preferred
• Must possess a valid NYS Accident and Health Agent License at the time of employment. License must remain valid at all times during employment with no lapse in coverage. Must maintain all required
continuing education requirements and renew license in advance of its expiration.
• Must complete and pass the NY State of Health approved training program and become certified. Must complete all required annual recertification.
