Position Overview
Under the direct supervision of the MLTC Clinical Quality Manager, the Quality Specialist Intern is responsible for reviewing the Uniform Assessment System-NY (UAS-NY) assessments to support the data analysis, monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities within the Managed Long-Term Care (MLTC) department. This position will conduct ongoing analyses that will support MLTC operations in five key areas: regulatory compliance, care management, quality/performance measurement, special projects/grants, and administrative functions. The role will support the strategic goals of the MLTC department to ensure that all MetroPlus MLTC and MAP members receive appropriate services. The role requires working knowledge of Tableau, MS Access, and MS Excel; SQL preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review Lenavi reports and trends in the UAS assessment within Lenavi, quality analysis software to improvement risk scores.
- Analysis of varying analysis reports derived from the UAS assessment to reduce inconsistencies and to meets quality standards and accuracy following MetroPlusHealth policies and NYS regulations.
- Provide feedback to the management team regarding trends noted in assessment contents, completion rates, and timeliness of assessment nurses.

- Performs extraction, import, and export of data from diverse data sources including various database applications.
- Measures and tracks key performance indicators and targets to effectively monitor department activities including productivity and quality outcomes.
- Prepare various reports and correspondences as well as provide summary reports to highlight key findings for implementation of performance improvement plans.
- Provide feedback to the management team regarding trends noted in assessment contents, completion rates, and timeliness of assessment nurses.
- Prepare technical guides on opportunities to improve access to care by providing visibility to the clinical teams.
- Assist with special projects assigned to meet departmental goals and policies.
- Oversee varying reports for quality initiatives.
- Report weekly to management on reporting trends.
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, health administration, business administration, or information technology preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.
- Prefer experience and knowledge of Managed Care plan operations or Health Services administration.
- A minimum of two years’ analytics, programming, application, or reporting development experience is required.
- Experience analyzing various types of data and processes in a versatile manner including ability to present findings and make recommendations.
