Position Overview

The Commercial Sales Supervisor will take on multiple roles in the development and implementation of prospecting & the RFP process. This role will demonstrate an understanding the employee benefits consultant, broker, and underwriting environment. The Commercial Sales Supervisor will manage a team responsible for supporting the early stages of prospecting (e.g. internal meetings, demonstrations, research, providing data, etc.); this team includes Account Executives to implement the different phases of prospecting (discovery, demonstrations, pricing, scope of work and contracts). This position wil collaborate with various business unit leads to support the implementation of new contracts and will position staff for employee benefit meetings (e.g., open enrollments, new hires) and account management meetings (roster review, enrollment portal, service guides, etc.). Overall, the role will focus on the following areas: Self-funded market (MSO/TPA), fully-insured market, maintain a presence with existing City Agency and Daycare business (for Gold and GoldCare) and the Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA) Market.

Job Description

Scope of Role & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and drive prospecting account engagement.
  • Lead team meetings (weekly/bi-weekly) on a consistent basis (or as needed).
  • Develop and monitor staff performance on a routine basis (monthly or as needed).
  • Provide and/or coordinate staff development and trainings.
  • Support Account Executive Team with prospecting phases to accelerate lengthy sales cycle.
  • Support prospecting strategies on a case-by-case basis;
  • Assist with prospect research.
  • Assist with industry research and local market industry trends.
  • Summarize learning from field encounters (in Salesforce CRM).
  • Collaborate with branding/marketing teams to generate content for digital engagements, broker events, participate in trade shows, tailored guide documents.
  • Work closely with Account Management and Underwriting Teams to process informal and formal quotes and assist with negotiations.
  • Team must take on the role of relationship lead for assigned internal and external business units.
  • Know and support the account implementation teams.
  • Be ready to:
    • Review, maintain and confirm account rosters (actives / waivers).
    • Review Welcome Letter (the warm and fuzzy message).
    • Review agreements (on employer portal / ESS format):
    • Review benefits via Administrative Guide with Accounts.
    • Resolve account inquiries made by Benefit Administrators.
    • Provide annual updates to Benefits Administrators.
  • Develop & maintain knowledge of MetroPlusHealth's commercial products and stay up to date with all OLR marketing rules and company regulations.
  • Must possess good presentation skills or be willing to develop presentation skills.
  • Must be responsible for tailoring template MetroPlusHealth power point presentations to both internal and external audiences.
  • Be able to review and explain the features and benefits of health insurance coverage, including costsharing mechanisms like deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance and how it affects the consumer.
  • Have staff presentations and participate in employee forums and workshops upon request.
  • Provide reports and statistical data on activities, statuses, and growth contribution as requested.
  • Provide marketing materials (literature and/or promotional items) to target accounts, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education, Training & Professional Experience

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Possess a working vehicle to be used during working hours.
  • Willing to travel within the NYC service area.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Sales and/or Account Management experience required.
  • Must have a minimum of 2-year supervisory experience.
  • Public Speaking experience.
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends.

Licensure and/or Certification

  • Must have NYS Driver’s License;
  • New York State Accident & Health License;
  • Must have Registered Employee Benefits Designation (or complete within 12 months)
  • Must complete and pass the NY State of Health approved training program and become certified
